Work begins on East Hempfield Development

by thiryj

Work has begun on an East Hempfield Township development that will be the site of a $10 million Quality Bicycle Products distribution center as well as other commercial space and several hundred residential units.

Companies working on the project gathered for a groundbreaking Thursday; they include Oak Tree Development Group LLC, Rettew Associates Inc., CBRE Inc. and Hartman Underhill & Brubaker LLC.

According to Oak Tree President Michael O’Brien, the Lime Spring Farm site is about 115 acres, and the first phase of the project will involve developing about 60 of those acres. Some older buildings on the site will be reused, he said, and Noll Drive will be extended.

Quality Bicycle Products received a low-interest $2 million loan from Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority for the project.
