Church & Dwight investing $55M in York County, adding 180 jobs
Church & Dwight Co. Inc. is investing about $55 million at its facility in York County to expand its gummy vitamin production, the New Jersey-based consumer products company said this morning.
Construction for the new line will start in January, and it is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2015, Church & Dwight said.
Production of gummy vitamins also will continue at facilities in Washington state, according to the company.
The investment will expand its production capacity by 75 percent, and the new line is expected to employ about 180 people, Church & Dwight said.
“We believe the future prospects of the gummy vitamin category are strong as more adults switch from traditional vitamin pills to gummy vitamins,” said James R. Craigie, chairman and CEO, in a statement.
Church & Dwight last year completed the $650 million acquisition of Avid Health Inc., with its leading adult and children’s gummy vitamin brands.
