Ephrata Giant Featuring Smaller Inline Retail Spaces
Nov. 20, the zoning hearing board granted a special exception that will allow the developers of a new Giant Food store to create a shopping center at its location on Route 322.
The ruling does not change the footprint of the 14,100 square feet of “inline” space adjoining the Giant. Rather, it will allow the developers to split the space into smaller facilities that can be leased to five or more businesses.
The development was originally slated to be a retail center that would have housed one or two stores in addition to Giant. But the developers argued that the economic downturn had prevented them from securing larger tenants.
