York County, PA Courting Euro Companies
CPBJ Reports: The president of the York County Economic Development Corp. said a recent trip to Europe yielded about six to eight solid business prospects looking to locate operations in the United States.
The corporation has been active during the past year to attract these international businesses to York County, President Darrell Auterson said. Staffers have made three trips to Europe and one to Asia, he said.
The most recent trip, during the week after Thanksgiving, was part of the U.S. Cleantech Trade and Investment Mission with the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration. The trip focused on renewable energy firms.
The Northeast is attractive for that type of foreign investment because many of the states in the region have adopted alternative-energy generation rules, Auterson said.
“They’ve seen that they’ve got to be here,” Auterson said.
Officials want to make York County the home for those prospects that want to tap into these markets, he said.
